The most budget-friendly choice is likely an Airbnb, where you can find a cozy apartment to serve as your base. However, bear in mind that the likelihood of bumping into a wealthy suitor in an Airbnb is slim, as those looking for upscale experiences tend to stay in luxury hotels. For a blend of comfort and affordability, consider boutique hotels or charming guesthouses. My Stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton

I opted to stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton, which was a fantastic choice due to its prime location. Everything I wanted to see was within walking distance, making it super convenient. Just up the road, about a block away, was the handy hop-on, hop-off bus stop, and a couple of blocks further was the grocery store—a lifesaver for snacks and water. I must emphasize, though, you need to pack your walking shoes! The cobblestone streets of Rome are famously unfriendly to anything fancy. However, I discovered an awesome pair of stylish walking shoes from Amazon for just $50. They might look like Alaia, but they’re perfect for uphill strolls, super comfy, and don’t scream “tourist”. Most of the hotel guests during my stay were couples over 60 probably because the hotel was expensive, mostly American, and they were pleasant to chat with. Hotel rooms ranged in price from 550 euros a night plus since it’s high season! Staying at this hotel wasn’t exactly an Emily in Paris experience but there’s some comfort in having many Americans around when you’re in a foreign country. And don’t eat the Gran Caffe Maggiore just up the road from the hotel before the grocery store because they will swindle tourists – charging more than what they advertise.

While Instagram paints the Amalfi Coast as a sun-drenched paradise, the reality was a bit different. The iconic views were undeniably beautiful but somehow less vibrant in person, with the buildings appearing remarkably like ancient ruins.
